A place with such class and finesse is surely a paradise for the foodies in the town. One of the best place for obvious reasons, Indigo Deli gives you an awesome experience everytime you visit this place. A brand from Mumbai renowned for comfort food with innovative twists after tantalizing the taste buds of Mumbaikars over a dozen years enters Pune to give you an enthralling experience.
When Indigo Deli came to Pune, I couldn’t wait to go try it. The restaurant expands over more than 3000 sq ft and can accommodate 90 pax at least. The innovative concept of the ‘Open Kitchen’ is delightful and satisfying at the same time. Its kinda surreal when you enter this awesome heaven-ly place. Wooden and dim lighting play the perfect background for a meaningful conversations with your closed ones. Also there’s a lovely display of wines and collectibles which is a perfect view while dining at !
The menu is cosmic and inviting. From great breakfast options to salads, sandwiches to mains and a bevy of interesting beverages and not-to-miss delicious desserts, Indigo Deli serves it all. The Dessert Menu is extraordinary – in appearance, texture and taste. They have a huge variety options and definitely it would make you feel the jinx while choosing your picks. I’m telling you people, its a dessert-heaven.
All ingredients are farm-fresh and every elements are made from deep scratch (raw-ness is always a welcome, right!) All the breads right from multi-grain to five-grain and ciabatta to baguette and farmer’s bread are made in-house and are also available on sale separately. Indigo also provides dips and jams on sale.
Now, let me tell you what #MyBonAppetit and fellow #TheBTeam members had one fine evening at Indigo Deli.
The Deli Favorite Crispy Chicken (Rs. 685) – It was served with the works (fried egg, onion rings, French fries, sautéed mushrooms, garden greens, tomato and cheddar] and wicked sauce was simply humongous. It had a Juicy and succulent patty which actually had the punch inside and the wicked sauce had smothered the bun with ultimate pride. Super-fabulous burger which you shouldn’t miss here. #GoForIt
The Corn crusted, Potato and Jalapeño Burger
(Rs. 445) – This one is a vegetarian delight for sure. Served with creamy feta on a multi – grain roll is surely a winner here already. It had flavour-enriched punch in every single bite. The lovely contrasting flavour from the feta played really well with the tender texture of patty and sides served with it. My dear vegetarians friends, do order this when you are at Indigo and you would be thanking me later.
The Deli BBQ Chicken Burger
(Rs. 485) – it was served with grilled onions, a fried egg, potato wedges and a salad. MyBonAppetit
Truly loved it and definitely be coming back for this. It serves the right purpose with the price quotient. There are very few places which can serve superb bbq chicken burger and in that right proportion of spicy and sides for giving mild temptations post the bites. Indigo definitely tops that list now.
The Roasted Mushroom and Tofu Burger
(Rs. 445) – with garlic spinach on a five – grain bun was a let down. The sesame coating had extra crsipy-ness and it made the tofu and mushroom pairing totally un-related. I recommend chef to look into this and change the ingredients or crispness overall. It can be better for sure, but this one is definitely not the better one!
The Seriously Sloppy
– Joe (Rs. 445) had BBQ chicken, sharp mustard and melted cheddar in a crusty baguette. Oh, It was heavenly ! There are times, when you crave for legendary sandwiches to give your appetite a feel of delight, this one serves the purpose.
We all loved it and it definitely lives up to its name, very sloppy and messy to eat with.
Creamy Touch with Mustard feel and that amazing bbq chicken so tendered that evening seem sorted for us! #GoForIt
The Deli Chili Chicken Cheese Toast
(Rs. 465) – It had cheddar, bell peppers, red onions and jalapeños and grilled in whole wheat bread. A very honest try with so many things to offer in one plate with such nice name. Fortunately, it lived true to its name. The overall package seems nice for a foodie like me but I think personally they should cut down on a few of ingredients to provide the rich taste on the plate otherwise it’d be difficult for others to guess the types of ingredients used in the ‘wich.
The Creamy Chicken Salad
(Rs. 445) – With roasted pineapple, peppers, lettuce and 1,000 – island dressing and grilled farmer’s bread. I’m not a salad person at all but this was something different, I’m telling you. Nice creamy chicken with crispy skin and flavor of the sauce. A very suitable salad for chicken lover with some variety in the plate. Chef Tushar
definitely knows how to play with his patron’s taste buds ! #GoForIt
They have a home-made ice-creams series for patrons. And as I mentioned before as well, they all are prepared from scratch and much detailing in-house only.
1. Bailey’s (with alcohol) ,
2. Mocha and Caramelized Banana,
3. Strawberry Cheese Cake,
4. Banana Peanut Butter and
5. Dulce De Leche.
All were priced moderately at Rs. 150-175.
Apart from these in-house delicious scoops, we also had The Chocolate Mud Cake
and the Chocolate Whiskey Pate
which were absolutely sinful. I’m not a whiskey person hence I didn’t like the overpowering tone of whiskey in The pate. Even my fellow blogger also went on to say, the whiskey tone is overpowering the entire feel of the dessert.
However, I liked the cranberry coulis and it reminded me of one such dessert I had at one of the mexican place in Pune only. It was lovely and very perfect pairing.
A special thanks to Svetlana Savant for being a great host for the evening and Chef Tushar Deshpande for delighting our senses with his culinary finesse
and Saptadeep Roy for managing the entire show with such ease.
Indigo Delicatessen is located at Phoenix Market City, Viman Nagar.
