GRT Hotels – the GReaT escapade !

Vanakkam Chennai !!!

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy – Rumi

Don’t settle down and sit in one place. Move around, be nomadic, make each day a new horizon. You are still going to live a long time, and it would be a shame if you did not take the opportunity to revolutionize your life and move into an entirely new realm of experience.

Globalized Chennai is no longer the hamlet-ish Madras of slow days and early nights, quiet avenues and conservative lifestyles. And yet, beneath the gloss lies the old sheen of Kapi-tipan (coffee and snacks) and Carnatic music. A lot to explore and gather!

From expanding a genuine experience into a universal wisdom to encapsulating a thought we have, an emotion we’re feeling or a truth we hold dear, a saga or a tale at their best can replace destructive and negative thoughts with positive ones and enhance life for the better sharing the greatest stories or travel scenes for people. Sharing my piece of experience of my recently concluded Chennai trip for the GReaT escapade!

Over the years, Chennai has been crafted in a city with long-standing traditions and esoteric culture. Ranging from locale food places, films, architecture, shopping and theosophy; Chennai is a vast pandora box waiting to be explored. The Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai has kept this in mind and has designed special tours that can be customized as per the preferences of the guests in terms of location, time and people available. These are known as the GReaT Chennai Trails and each of these trails promises a unique and enriching experience for travelers. Truly a winning package for the guests of GRT Hotels.

Organized by Firebrand Labs as part of their digital engagement with GRT Hotels & Resorts group, this one of a kind meet up was organized between 20th – 24th April touring four of the esteemed properties namely; Radisson Blu by GRT Hotels Chennai, Radisson Blu Temple Bay by GRT Hotels, Mahabalipuram, Regency by GRT Hotels, Kanchipuram and Grand by GRT Hotels, Chennai.

GRT Hotels are nothing but a sheer idea turned into a magnum opus project by  Mr.G.Rajendran, running over 13 different properties in Chennai, Madurai, Kanchipuram, Yercaud, Kakinada, Mamallapuram, Tiruttani, Tuticorin, Kodaikanal, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore. They cater to luxury, business and leisure travelers. For more details, one can refer to their official website too.

img_5721With fellow bloggers at our helm, the journey unfolded at one location and went through four superb locations by end of the trip.

GRT properties in Chennai, Mahabalipuram, and Kanchipuram, we had traveled to all. We amazed at the fascinating cuisine spread out before us with superb twists and turns that took food from the mundane plane of simple eating to many levels higher, pushing the layers of innovation to another high. There are few pictures attached here which share a small slice of the affair that we had with GRT in memories, trust me, they depict only a tip of the iceberg and we hope that this would only ask for more from my blog.

First, we had been introduced to the first hotel near the airport in Guindy. Oh, the stay was superb and the breakfast was brilliant. One of the best English breakfast I ever had in my life.

Post our first stop at Chennai, we reached Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay by evening same day and were welcomed by traditional tilak, a sea-shell necklace, and tender coconut drink. Little did we know that what’s in store for us for coming two days. Total bliss; I knew it at that very moment. The soothing and serene Bodhi Spa, a curated massage with expert masseur (Partha Sarathi) well versed in the traditional nuances of Kerala who use Ayurvedic oils to soothe frayed nerves, craving for relaxation., high octane activities like ATV riding and Zorbing, a calm and cool swim session at the infinity pool and Asia’s biggest meandering pool. Spectacular performances by local craftsman and traditional dancers transported us into a different and magical world as the stars twinkled in the night sky and the waves of the sea crashed against the shore in the distance. A perfect romantic beachside restaurant with magnificent manager (Sidhartha) to take care of all the perfect ordeal of yours and leave you with nothing but all the time to cease the evening with panache!

Then, the very next day, A visit to the Kanchipuram temple triggered our spiritual senses and we then exclaimed at the sheer artistry of the weavers who create magic through the famed Kanjeevaram Sarees. The opportunity to see how magic was weaved in Kanchipuram in the form of Kanjeevaram Sarees was something to witness. What a brilliant sight to observe. A weaver named Raghamam was very happy to see us witnessing his work. Worth a million dollar, trust me. The oasis of warmth and hospitality at the Regency by GRT in the temple town of Kanchipuram was mindblowing.

Then by the very evening, we headed back to Chennai to a Grand welcome at the Grand by GRT Hotels. It is a veritable treasure house of art, a wonderful mosaic that stitches together the best of culture and art from across India and the world. Storytelling at its best through every floor, room, and designs!

The Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai, have a high principal of hospitality when it comes to catering any guests of the hotel. They surely take “Atithi Devo Bhava” to the uber level. They have a special motto and which says, I SAY YES. Badges with this duty-marked motto can be seen on every manager’s blazer all the time. Right from the moment that you check-in to the hotel to when you check-out, each and every staff person of the hotel team ensures that the guest is comfortable and caters to their every whim and fancy. The warmth in the smiles is quite genuine and springs from the heart. The hospitality, the décor, the facilities, ambiance and the food, all blend together with the elixir of goodness to create a magical experience for every guest.File_000 (3)
Special Mention;

The Salt Co 531 restaurant at Radisson Blu by GRT Hotels, Airport Road – tantalizingly promises an unforgettable affair with food.

The Wharf at Radisson Blu temple bay by GRT Hotels – The wharf is one heck of restaurant in its league. Truly, one of the most romantic restaurants I have ever come across.

J Hind Grand by GRT, Chennai – J Hind stands for Jugalbandi Hindustan. The degustation menu had us winning already by dealing with various styles of cooking like spherification, foaming, nitro freezing to name a few!

Sunday Sundai at Bazaar – Grand by GRT, Chennai – The theme and spread at Sunday Sundai is inspired by the local food markets all across the world. Oh, yeah they had a huge buffet spread. Chef Seetharaman and Chef Vishwanathan create magic with thier dishes here.

One of the striking and out of the box thing abt GRT Hotels is Apart from the fabulous food and hospitality, the staff entertained us with flash dance mobs!File_000 (4) Yeah, you heard it right, if you had gone through my facebook posts, I had shared one video where the dancer in me couldn’t even resist and I had to join them as well. One of the special thing which I observed during my stay at Raddison Blu Temple Bay Resort was the enigma of treasuring a traditionally old and on verge of being extinct dance forms being supported and encouraged by GRT Hotels under responsible tourism. A complete box office show on your radar for a couple of hours enriching your serene beachside stay more overwhelming. The local artists were performing with such grace and agility that even everyone there was hooked on to the stage. They were trying different plays all in a while ranging from standing on pointed objects, drinking Fanta while balancing a matka on his head and over his neck to spitting fire and so much more which I can’t put into words here. With your drink in your hand, enjoying such a lovely performance in an awesome evening, what else can you ask for?

It was such a lovely time spent here with a newly-found squad. It was a melange of rich experiences that went beyond the ordinary and transcended the borders of the extraordinary. Wish you a happily sorted scene soon!
